In the first days of 2015, Spyros Thymis asked Nick Syrigos if he would consider creating a company that would deal with fishing trips around the island of Corfu, to which Nick replied that it would make better sense to address it all over Greece.
Of course, starting off at a national scale meant that the project would take longer to develop and require a much larger operational budget but, whatever the case, a few months later the business plan had been set down and the project was taking its first steps into the real world!
The first period of just over a year, was dedicated to ensuring the supply of fishing trips. This was a twofold task that meant sorting out the requirements and restrictions of the new and often incomplete legislation in addition to finding, informing and finally training professional fisherman to handle tourists on board.
In 2017, boats registered with Fishing Trips in Greece could be found in 55 areas in Greece and the project started on a small B2C scale, which helped to refine the trips and troubleshoot the procedures.
By the end of 2017, “Fishing Trips in Greece®”, the 1st product of Alter Greece, is open for the tourist market for B2C & B2B bookings.
Aiming higher or deeper ?
“Diving in Greece®” is our second project that has already started and is partially funded by the European Union! This project aims to create something unique without precedent in the Europe, at least not on this scale.
As the word “deeper” may suggest, we are now going underwater!
We have started creating underwater videos around Greece, from shipwrecks, airplane-wrecks, underwater ancient cities, reefs and underwater spots of natural beauty. In their majority, these gems of the Greek seas are accessible to the recreational diver because they lie in relatively shallow water.
These videos will be stored on our website and visitors will be able to book online the dive of their choice with licensed diving centers.
